Downsides: The animation lags or fully stopped (it probably is a Unity issue because lowering the graphics didn't do me favors or the skipping kinda fucks the code.)
Yeah whoops, right I'm on a phone with 4gb and played the game with the lowest settings but the video lags on cutscenes. Well probably because I skipped a lot and that kinda fucks the code or there's some few things that the dev needs to iron out
BUT THAT'S NOT GONNA STOP ME TO FUCK NATE THE HOOF GUY
P. S To the dev: Take your time and don't rush it.
yeah the settings don't do anything because I already force the compression to be extremely strong on android so that it runs at all lmao. There's an engine upgrade thats coming soon that might alleviate some of the issues you're running into or make it worse, i don't really have a device to test the android version on because it works perfectly fine on my phone. Slowly but surely I'll get it to work for everyone on android... or I'll just abandon the android port all together.
I don't think it's a good idea to abandon the Android version, it's simply that many people's phones are slow. I've been playing this for a while on Android and it works perfectly for me.
I'm curious, why are you using unity when so far it seems kinda like a slightly gimped ren'py game; there's no roll forward, the save previews don't show the ui making it hard to tell which save is which (especially being a free roam vn), there's a "quick load" menu but I can't tell how to quick save or if you even can at all, there are many times where you can't save due to the quick menu and cog button just going away and esc doesn't do anything, and the rollback (seemingly at random) doesn't go back at times meaning if you want to go back (because you can do things out of order, e.g. going to a 2nd other dimension with roxy for the first time and the internal monologue implies you've been there several times already, or the bridge with nate where you've apparently already done things with roxy by then yet you have to have been to nate's in the 2nd roxy event to access a prior nate event but can go straight up to the bridge one and do that out of order) meaning if you decide you don't want to do that yet you have to load a save and replay bits rather than just rollback to before starting the "event"
I admittedly haven't gotten that far in and am enjoying it, it's pretty fun story-wise so far (ignoring todd in the intro)
it just feels worse off for being in unity rather than ren'py, it doesn't seem to be live rendering anything and it's definitely trying to function very similarly to almost every ren'py game I've played, and because of that it leaves me missing simple things for example I'm pretty used to using right click to access the save/load and settings menus but the only way to access the menu is clicking the onscreen button and it isn't there at times and quick-load and quick-save would be useful for easily going back if something is clearly out of order and you want to find the thing you've missed before getting back to that character's story
like I get that it's free and that there's most likely just one person working on it so duh it's not going to be perfect but as I said in the first 2 words "I'm curious"
edit: I just played a bit more and my quickload menu has saves in it that are all beds, is quickload just auto saves at the end of a day? in which case it's impossible to tell which is which especially if you reload at any point
Originally I attempted to develop the game in Renpy but I'm just not good at python and I'm not that big of a fan of it in general. I also want to do more in depth minigames and systems that would be increasingly difficult to pull off in Renpy and it's definitely a bit too late to switch now lmao.
Quick saves are exclusively intended to be for the autosave at the end of every day, just there in case you run into a crash without saving, you should just use the actual save load feature for normal saving. A lot of those inconsistencies that you spoke of have been fixed in the current patreon version (coming soon to itchio) if you're seeing something out of order it's a bug and you should let me know, because as many time's as I've play tested the game I can't pick up on everything by myself.
Also yes I'm aware of the 'control' issues like rollback and stuff being weird, that got fixed in the most recent patreon update already too. I added in 'H' to hide the ui and other stuff like the spacebar not pulling up the sidebar unwanted anymore. But i'd wait for that update to come public because theres some fixes to it that had to be made for the public version that aren't in the patreon version right now (sorry patreon users, at least you'll get 0.25 early...)
I've considered maybe hiring someone to port the game to Renpy for the android version (it's riddled with bugs) and if that went well enough I could use that as the main game, but like... it'd be months of work, stalling any new content.
Hi, ive been stuck on one of the last Nate quests, its all im missing to complete everything. the hint for the quest is
"Nate seems pretty pissed, you should see him in the library tomorrow morning... you had better bring Roxy too."
ive done EVERYTHING possible, ive visited him in the library every single day of the week, i tried talking to Roxy... everything. is this a known issue? or is the hint extremelly missleading??
(ive done the quest in wich MC and Roxy go to the library and MC shows Nate that he can warp)
so i suspect ive done the quest but the hint is still there? or maybe it could just be another quest that isnt starting
Man, I've been following this game for a while, and I don't think all these technical changes are making the game any better.
I recall how the UI used to be slow during the initial release, but everything else worked properly. I was worried back then, but the UI was soon patched and all was well. Things should have just stayed there.
Then I think there was an engine change, and now everything is just breaking down with each new update. All the scenes lag like hell now, along with the UI (again), and the game keeps crashing frequently. And then there was that whole save reset a couple of updates ago...
None of the options in the settings help with performance. I don't know how scenes that used to run before just refuse to sync up now.
I'd hate to abandon this game, but this shit is getting on my nerves. Idk what to suggest, but at this point, I'd much prefer to play a sequel game with all the technical issues patched first, rather than try to crank to a slideshow.
I appreciate your concerns but this is just a unfortunate side effect of the game getting more complicated.
First of all there was no engine change, it's always been made in unity.
As more content gets added to the game, with more complicated visual flair it gets harder to run and optimise for lower end android devices. I'm not an android developer myself, I barely know how to make the game run on PC. But I should be clear that this game is design WITH PC IN MIND. I can't lower the quality of the game to support random Oppo phones with 1gb of ram, if I was better at programming I might, but I'm simply just still learning.
The save reset was in service of making the game run better and the game's running better than ever on PC, at least without many major bugs showing up. It's just something that has to happen in a game that's constantly being updated, especially on a complicated engine like Unity. I often regret not making the game in Renpy because at least Renpy's saves are consistantly usable for the most part. But it's too late to port to Renpy I think.
The content skip option is there specifically for this reason, I give you acces to basically the full gallery at the click of a button, and progress right up to the most recent update I don't know how else I could help you. (Also the next public update will have another save reset so feel free to get mad at that too, but i'd reccomend you just use the in game features that bypass any trouble.)
The settings (on android) don't change much because I have to force the videos to be lower quality for it to even run properly. It's just not my realm of expertise and having hundreds of animations, especially with how many there are for the new sex events, it's just not feasible to expect them to run on just any device. Not with Unity.
I am commited to the story of Dimension 69, I can't really abandon it for a sequel, that wouldn't make any sense.
I assure you that on every phone and computer I've tested the game on, it runs completely fine without any lag, so I can't really relate to performance issues but I empathise. I just honestly don't have the knowledge at hand to do anything about it. So, sorry.
Bottom line is, any technical changes I make to the game are to make it run better and look better (ON PC). If your device can no longer handle the game, I apologise, if I knew a better way to compress these videos or make a port of the game to fit that device, I would. But I don't.
There are some major scaling issues on Samsung z fold... Whenever I enter the shop, there's no way to get out of it because all the options are cut off 😭
It's not really feasible to spend the game dev time to figure out how to do that, i've already tried to optimise it a billion times, the Android version is just straight up not reccomended. The optimal way to play the game is on a windows computer.
The game is currently 1.5 gb on android and it's only going to get bigger, so yeah you're right if your device can't handle a game with lots of video files then I would pass until you can get your hands on a laptop or something. I appreciate people giving the game a shot though.
I wanted to try this out but my installation was interrupted when one of the files said "Path too long" and then the installation halted, What does that mean?
I download the game and it downloads just fine, then I create a folder on my computer to unzip into and then proceed to extract into said folder. It's only while extracting that I start experiencing issues.

Upsides: You can fuck the femboy
you should probably specify that the animation lags cuz ur in a phone or an extremelly low end pc

yeah im just messing around lmao, android users are 50% of the playerbase and for the majority of them, the game works perfectly fine.
Will Chinese be added in the future?
If I can afford to hire someone to do it, sure.

Yeah it's just a visual bug, there is no new nate event.
oh ok, thank you!
question: will futanari/trans also be in the game like femboy?
Dussop? Are u sure its a at night and not at day or a specific day of the week?
she's at the last beacon alleyway at night. I'm sure.
It says event not avaible

Damn. All my problems stem from trying to get this to run on PC. I hope you can find a way to compress the quality in the future.
太好玩了但是,我们需要中文!
There are some major scaling issues on Samsung z fold... Whenever I enter the shop, there's no way to get out of it because all the options are cut off 😭
That's something that im aware of and have fixed for the next version... i think, i dont have anything to test it on.
I wanted to know if you can resolve this by bringing an update that makes the game lighter because when I go to play the scenes it keeps crashing😓😓
It's not really feasible to spend the game dev time to figure out how to do that, i've already tried to optimise it a billion times, the Android version is just straight up not reccomended. The optimal way to play the game is on a windows computer.
Ngl its not worth it playing 2-3 gb games on an android device. Just go for smaller games many other exists.

Uhh how do I do the nate quest even tho I have the gallery scene?
It's just a visual bug, there is no new nate event.
Wher is emma's work because i need to go see her
Last Beacon alleyway at night I think.

Honestly I have no idea, did google show no results? it doesnt seem to be something specific to the game.
I download the game and it downloads just fine, then I create a folder on my computer to unzip into and then proceed to extract into said folder. It's only while extracting that I start experiencing issues.
You somehow stuffed it so far down a file path you broke the 260 character limit for path+filename in windows?
You have tried to hide the game too deep in the folders of your computer xD
Is there a end limit/time limit like those other games that only have a 30 days or so on to do all of it?
no and there won't be, i heavily dislike systems like that
